McFadden. Zarate Murphy. Larsson. Johnson. They’re all featured in the March issue of BLUES Magazine which is in the shops this week.
We hear from the three new guys, James McFadden, Mauro Zarate and David Murphy, about their moves to Blues, their hopes for their time at the club and how they are settling in.
On McFadden, we talk to former Blues favourite, Paul Devlin, a team-mate of McFadden in the Scottish team, and find out how he thinks the £5million striker will do at St. Andrew’s. “He’s a new hero in the making,” says Devs. “He’s a real flair player and I think that once he gets settled at Blues, he could become a real crowd favourite.”
We profile the new Argentinian ace Mauro Zarate and look at his likely impact. “Pace, quick feet, mesmerising ball control... no wonder this out-of-the-blue transfer has created a small buzz around St. Andrew’s,” says columnist Colin Tattum.
And we have a one-one-one session with David Murphy and hear about his career to date, why he came to Blues, how he sees the season going and what he hopes to achieve in his time at the club. “It’s a big club with a lot of ambition and hopefully I can play my part in bringing a bit of success here,” he says. And, on our chances of surviving, he adds, “We know we’re in for a fight but we’re confident we can survive. If I didn’t think we were good enough for the Premier League, I wouldn’t have come here.”
Also in the magazine are features on Damien Johnson, back in the thick of the action after his fractured cheekbone, and Seb Larsson, after making his full international debut for Sweden.
Former Blues captain, Ian Clarkson, also gives a run down of his six best games from his days watching Blues from the terraces. Wins over Villa, Man Utd and Oxford all feature, along with the Ipswich Worthington Cup semi final. We also talk to a true Blues legend, Gil Merrick, about his times at Blues as both player and manager.
There are features by Paul Franks and Tom Ross, news from inside St. Andrew’s, a fanzone special on how Blues fans would improve football, an indepth feature on Blues’ first ever trip to the Emirates stadium, plus posters of James McFadden, Damien Johnson and Stephen Kelly, as well as an A3 pull-out special of Mauro Zarate.
