The latest issue of BLUES Magazine is in the shops today with exclusive interviews with Olivier Kapo, Seb Larsson and Liam Ridgewell. And we reveal the winner of the fans’ vote for Blues Player of the Year and we pick Blues Top Ten Goals of the Season.
There is also a spotlight on the Blues Academy with Academy Manager, Terry Westley, giving his thoughts on the youngsters who will be staking a claim for a first team place next season.
In a five page interview, Olivier Kapo says he is happy at Blues and wants to play a key part in Alex McLeish’s new-look side. He chats about playing football under McLeish, how he is enjoying life in Birmingham and how the Blues fans have had a big impact on him.
In another major interview, we find out from Seb Larsson about his first full season in the Premier League, how he feels the spirit in the Blues squad will keep the club in the top flight and he looks ahead to Euro 2008 and his hopes of starring in the Swedish side.
And we find out who he thinks is the best free-kick taker at the club!
Liam Ridgewell chats about his rollercoaster season, his move from Villa and the job the team have got to do to keep Blues in the Premier League. “We’ll be battling all the way, you can be sure of that,” he promises.
Academy Manager, Terry Westley, says Blues have a ‘Golden Generation’ of youngsters who will soon be knocking on the door of the first team.
Sone Aluko, Krystian Pearce and Jordon Mutch are well known to Blues fans but there are others coming along and it promises a bright future for the club.
“I think our supporters can look forward to a group of home-grown players, not only breaking into the first team, but being a first team regular and being top players. That hasn’t happened for a long time here but that’s the aim.”
Also in the magazine, former Blues captain, Ian Clarkson, assesses the first four months of Alex McLeish’s reign; BRMB’s Tom Ross looks at what Blues have to do to stop us becoming a ‘yo-yo’ club and BBCWM’s Paul Franks previews the run-in to the end of the season and looks at the impact of Blues’ three January transfer signings.
We pick our Top Ten goals of the season - no prizes for guessing which is number one! - and there is a flashback to a ten goal thriller from the past plus an interview with Blues’ first ever substitute, Brian ‘Ena’ Sharples.
There are posters of Seb Larsson, David Murphy and Liam Ridgewell and centre page A3 Keep Right On celebration pull-out poster.
